Exceptional ships wheel of solid brass that has been meticulously polished and lacquered to create quite a display. Wheel is fitted with eight turned wood handles. the substantial brass pedestal is mounted to a thick wood base with routed edge and dark rich finish. With indicator arrow on cap which is engraved with rudder degrees and makers name John Sullivan of New York, NY. Circa 1890
