Model of the American whale ship Progress. Charming 19th-century model of the whale ship Progress of New Bedford with four lifeboats hanging from davits, two mounted on the cabin roof. Other details are tryworks, barrels, hatches, companionway, pump, capstan etc... The stern is fitted with a carved eagle. Vessel is painted bronze below the waterline and black above with simulated gun ports. Nicely rigged with clove hitched ratlines, standing and running cords.
Model is displayed in a wood framed glass case with dark mahogany varnish and custom table stand.
