Teacup by Minton | JP Morgan's Yacht "Corsair" | 1890

Minton's porcelain teacup from J.P. Morgan's personal steam yacht Corsair. The Corsair was flagship of the New York Yacht Club during Morgan's tenure as Commodore. This teacup is accompanied by a saucer slightly larger than the bottom of the cup and is likely not a match, however, the painted New York Yacht Club burgee and Commodore flags cross staffs on both the cup and the saucer. Also, there is a painted flowing banner beneath the flags reading "Corsair" on both pieces.
