Chamberlain & Ritchie c.1850

Chamberlain & Ritchie c.1850-1855 merchants of philosophical and mechanical instruments at 313 Washington St. in the Downtown Crossing area of Boston. Inventors Edward Ritchie and Nathan Chamberlain co founded the business and remained the authority on instruments of their kind for the duration of their lives. Edward Ritchie, established E.S. Ritchie & Sons in the mid 1800s and manufactures navigational marine bearing compasses and other instruments to this day.
