Sleek half model of a sailing yacht with engraved nameplate "Savannah 1933," designed by Francis Sweisguth, built by Minneford Yacht Yard Inc. A rare relic with hull that is painted crème over gold.
SAVANNAH, sail #A11, later known as SEA SAGA and then BOUNDING HOME, was a 52'11" auxiliary schooner designed by Ford, Payne & Sweisguth and built by Minnefords Yacht Yard, Inc. of City Island, New York for Frederick C. Rogers in 1933. Note that in Lloyds 1951, the L.O.A. changed by the time she became BOUNDING HOME. Dimensions in the late 1940's(?) were listed as: 53'1" x 40'11" x 13'2" x 8'2". By 1949 she had been altered to a staysail schooner. Power in 1951: Gray gas engine installed in 1951. Name changes: SAVANNAH when owned by F.C. Rogers, 1933–1934, SEA SAGA when owned by Nelson Odman and others from 1935–1946 and BOUNDING HOME when owned by William Ziegler, Jr. in 1947. Note Ships Plans reference to Sparkman & Stephens, Inc. design 787 for a proposed staysail rig.
