Brass Boat Compass in Varnished Wood Box

Classic twentieth century boat compass by American maker Wilcox Crittenden of Middletown Connecticut. The gimballed compass has been meticulously polished and lacquered. This classic marine instrument is fitted to its original hardwood box with a fine varnished finish. The bottom of the compass bowl is dated 2/44 (February 1944).
