Original builder's model of the Archibald Carey Smith-designed schooner "Rosemary". The yacht was owned by Frederick C. Fletcher. This outstanding model was on display in the "Model Room" at the Frederick Fletcher house in Brookline, Mass., at 34 Fletcher St. Mr. Fletcher’s father was known as the "Wool King" of America, and his son carried on in the family business. This spectacular model is truly one of the world’s finest yacht models. The model was built by Boucher. It is built to the highest quality. Every detail of the actual schooner yacht is represented. This model is an absolute pleasure to inspect.

The fittings are a mix of silvered metals, gold plated, and brass. The skylights are detailed with brass gratings, hinges, and routed edges. The deck is lined in India Ink. Companionways with raised panel doors. The goosenecks on the booms and mast winches are shown in great detail. There is a mahogany wheel box with eight spoke wood helm with brass hub. A skylight binnacle and deckplate are just in front of the wheel. The rigging is complete and unabridged with complete standing and running rigging. The bow has varnished grating with turned brass belaying pins. Fittings include winches, chain anchors, ventilator cowls, railings, etc. Three ribbed launches hang from davits, one steam powered. There are two ivory legend plates in the case. One reads "Rosemary" L.O.A. 90, L.W.L. 69', Beam 21', 1', Draft 8'6". Designed by A. Carey Smith. Frederick C. Fletcher.

The second legend plate shows the "Accommodation plan." It shows saloon, sails, bath, three staterooms, galley, ice box, etc. The baseboard is the trademark Smaltz finish used by Boucher. The cast brass Boucher logo coin is mounted into the corner of the case. Boucher was the model maker for the New York Yacht Club. Rosemary was a New York Yacht Club. The model flies the N.Y.Y.C. Burgee and Fletcher's house flag. This model is a gem of yachting history. We also have the builder's model of the Fletcher steam yacht "EMU", as well as a Thomas Willis silk embroidery of "Rosemary", a beautiful piece. The model is mounted into a glass display case.
