Exclusive Minton's consomme dish made exclusively for use aboard J. Pierpont Morgan's personal and private steam yacht "Corsair". The porcelain is trimmed in hand painted navy blue and gold trim accents. The 12 o'clock position of the dish shows the New York Yacht Club burgee crossing staff with the Commodore ensign. Beneath the flags is a flowing blue banner reading "Flagship". Corsair represented the New York Yacht Club as club flagship during Morgan's tenure as Commodore in the late 1800s. The dish and others for sale were brought to us from a direct descendant of Morgan, who died in 1913. The reverse of the plate includes a series of hand painted digits signifying Morgan's personal pattern number.
