Minton's serving platter made exclusively for J. Pierpont Morgan (1837-1913) for use aboard Morgan's personal and private steam yacht Corsair. Corsair represented the New York Yacht Club as flagship during Morgan's tenure as Commodore in 1898. The 12 o'clock position on the platter shows a hand painted New York Yacht Club burgee crossing staff with the Commodore ensign. Beneath the flags is a flowing banner reading "Flagship". The reverse of the platter includes a series of hand painted digits representing Morgan's personal patter number.
