Framed International Code of Signals Foxtrot (F) maritime signal flag, professionally mounted within a shadow box display. Constructed of white linen with a central red diamond, the flag retains its original heavy canvas hoist, rope lanyard, and wooden toggle. Used aboard merchant and naval vessels, alphabet signal flags formed part of the International Code of Signals, enabling ships to communicate navigational, operational, and emergency messages between vessels and shore stations.
When raised alone, the Foxtrot flag signified "I am disabled; communicate with me," indicating that the vessel was unable to proceed normally and requested communication or assistance from nearby vessels or shore authorities. A well-presented mid-century maritime display piece, ideal for collectors of naval and nautical memorabilia.
