Framed International Code of Signals Lima (L) maritime signal flag, professionally mounted within a shadow box display. Constructed of yellow linen with a central black disc, the flag retains its original canvas hoist, rope lanyard, and wooden toggle. Used aboard merchant and naval vessels, alphabet signal flags formed part of the International Code of Signals, enabling ships to communicate important navigational and operational messages between vessels and shore stations.
When raised alone, the Lima flag signified "You should stop your vessel immediately," conveying an urgent instruction to halt. In modern practice, it is also widely recognized as meaning "You should stop your vessel instantly." A distinctive and highly recognizable maritime signal, making it an excellent display piece for collectors of naval and nautical memorabilia.
