Framed International Code of Signals Oscar (O) maritime signal flag, professionally mounted within a shadow box display. Constructed of diagonally divided red and yellow linen panels, the flag retains its original heavy canvas hoist, rope lanyard, and wooden toggle. Used aboard merchant and naval vessels, alphabet signal flags formed part of the International Code of Signals, enabling ships to communicate navigational, operational, and emergency messages between vessels and shore stations.

When raised alone, the Oscar flag signified "Man overboard," alerting nearby vessels and crew that a person had fallen into the water and that immediate rescue procedures should be initiated.
