Framed International Code of Signals Uniform (U) maritime signal flag, professionally mounted within a shadow box display. Constructed of alternating red and white quartered linen panels, the flag retains its original canvas hoist, rope lanyard, and wooden toggle. International Code of Signals flags were widely used aboard naval and merchant vessels to communicate standardized navigational, operational, and safety messages before the widespread adoption of radio communications, and they remain an internationally recognized system of maritime signaling today.

When flown alone, the Uniform (U) flag means "You are running into danger." It is used to warn another vessel that it is standing into a hazardous situation, such as shoal water, submerged obstacles, or other navigational dangers. This vital warning signal has long played an important role in promoting safe navigation and its bold quartered design makes it a distinctive addition to any collection of naval or nautical memorabilia.
