Framed International Code of Signals Victor (V) maritime signal flag, professionally mounted within a shadow box display. Constructed of alternating red and yellow diagonal linen stripes, the flag retains its original canvas hoist, rope lanyard, and wooden toggle. International Code of Signals flags were widely used aboard naval and merchant vessels to communicate standardized operational and safety messages before the widespread adoption of radio communications, and they continue to serve as an internationally recognized system of maritime signaling today.

When flown alone, the Victor (V) flag means "I require assistance." It is used to indicate that a vessel requires help, though not necessarily that it is in immediate distress. Its striking diagonal striped design and important role in maritime safety make it an excellent addition to any collection of naval or nautical memorabilia.
