Block and tackle from 'Old Ironsides,' the U.S.S. Constitution. A very rare relic removed from the vessel during the restoration in the 1970s, preparing the ship for the bicentennial. Wonderful single-sheave block with pulley and served rope. The block comes from the son of shipyard worker Ignatius Weneck. Mr. Weneck worked first at the Boston Navy Yard in the Seaport District and later at the Charlestown Navy Yard, for a career spanning thirty-five years. Research has been done comparing this with others at the Constitution Museum-they match. This is a fabulous relic of maritime history.
