Ship’s Octant in Box 19th Century

Nineteenth century ship’s navigator’s octant in kidney shaped box. Ebony frame with brass index arm, filters, mirror, peep sight, etc., with badge engraved “ocean bird” and other non-descript text. The varnished wood box has several splits and a piece missing from lid. One glass filter is damaged.
