Spectacular and rare original blueprint of John Alden design 284, "Starling". Starling was a two masted, one hundred twenty six foot auxiliary schooner. This grand blueprint shows the hull lines from three views. Many measurements and details are shown. The hull is a full keel design with after cockpit. Starling was built for George F. Tyler of Philadelphia. The builder was Rice Brothers of the East Boothbay Maine. Length on deck was 126' 6". George Tyler, the owner was born in Newport, graduated Harvard and was a Philadelphia banker and sportsman. His estate "Indian Council Rock" had a main house with sixty rooms, 300 feet in length.
